Oh Shut Up, Man

So Joe is now haranguing us about those folks who have “occupied” the Capitol building to stop the certification of a deeply fraudulent election. Amidst the maudlin platitudes about the “Citadel of Democracy” he referred to the protesters as “anti-American” and decried them as a mob. Three thoughts:

One, failure to recognize that the widespread fraud marking November’s election would have serious repercussions is a failure indeed. Seventy-five million Trump voters have been alienated from the political system, and they ain’t settling down and behaving like good little sheep in the foreseeable future.

Two, calling them an anti-American mob probably isn’t going to do anything to reconcile them with a system they increasingly see as thoroughly rotten. That would require a modicum of understanding, and something tells me that ain’t in the offing. So look for much more of the same. If “mostly peaceful” protests are now okay, better “hang onto your butts,” as Samuel L. Jackson put it.

Three, if this level of violence is not okay, why didn’t Joe speak up when ANTIFA and BLM were burning down businesses and shooting people across the country? Something in his outrage is rotten – or maybe all of it is.

So get bent, Joe. When you have something useful to say, say that. Until then, better belt up. You’ll just make it worse.
