A Revelatory Lack of Manners

Say what you will about Tuesday’s Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress; I found it quite illuminating.  Although it mostly confirmed my suspicions, it was useful in showing the nation exactly what Washington D.C.’s Democrat party believes and embraces, and what it spurns. Best, one didn’t have to listen to a word;  they revealed themselves in their actions.

Above all, the political class of the Left believes that it possesses the moral right to do anything it wishes, to whomever it wishes, whenever it wishes.  No sooner had the president begun to speak than Houston’s Democrat Representative Al Green rose, brandishing his Scrooge McDuck-grade gold-handled cane and yawping nonsense. Perhaps he was channeling that cane-wielding Democrat hero Preston Brooks;  if so, thankfully no other politician was within range to be beaten nearly to death. It was embarrassing to anyone with more than  a fifth-grader’s sense of manners, but no one among the Democrats turned a hair. And the following day, they literally sang his praises.

Because they’re better than the man America elected. They’re better than their Republican colleagues. Better than the American people who were trying to hear what their president had to say.  And as our betters, they were entitled to this, and all their other exhibitions of ill-mannered petulance.  So all of us should jolly well shut up and let them rave. Because they are noble. And wise. And better than all of us.

At least they believe as much.

Democrats support hiding criminal aliens from consequence, and the law.  They want to protect strong-arm robbers, serial rapists and the occasional murderer from deportation to their home countries. When the president mentioned the good, ongoing work of securing our border and ridding ourselves of the worst alien lawbreakers among us, Democrats sat stone-faced as though they had been shown the Gorgon’s head.  Because they imported these people – for cheaper lawn care, for lower prices in the fancy restaurants they frequent, for domestic help – or just because they think our society is atrocious and unjust and needs to be torn down. How do we know?  Because they’ve said so, repeatedly. And they’ll seize any tool that comes to hand to keep things as they are..

As much as they try to conceal it beneath layer upon layer of pink, they hate women – particularly young, athletic women.  They not only sat on their hands as the president outlined his actions to prevent young males (for the uninitiated or Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, that’s  a human with an X and a Y chromosome) from entering young women’s (and again: humans with two X chromosomes) locker rooms and athletic competitions.  Nothing seems closer to the heart of Democrat politicians than a young man in female attire outrunning, jumping, swimming or otherwise beating young women.  Save perhaps for males (see above) winning all the athletic scholarships formerly reserved for actual females.

And if any young women are injured in the process by those who are, by virtue of biology faster, larger, stronger, well… They were just asking for it. No sport is free of injuries, right? 

Democrats firmly believe in racism.  They sat silent as President Trump spoke of the virtues of  hiring by merit and of plans to replace quotas in government and government-funded operations.  Then they waved paddles with various slogans like the delusional bidders against Uppity Albert McGuire in the auction house of Makenzie, Mallory.  Because they still believe in their right to choose the winners and losers in life, and to Hell with applicants’ abilities, work ethic, prior knowledge or anything even resembling equality..

Because they hate free and open competition.  They know better than any prospective employer who is right for a job, especially when a candidate from one of their favored classes is in the running.

Democrats churlishly refused to applaud a thirteen-year-old pediatric brain cancer survivor, perhaps because his fondest dream was to become a police officer.  They spurned a political hostage held for years by Vlad the Terrible in Russia and finally sprung by the President.  Because regardless of the real human triumph, Donald Trump must not be allowed a win. 

They similarly refused to stand in favor of shock treatment to end the war in Ukraine, which they apparently want to continue indefinitely, regardless of the cost in treasure and lives.  Because Democrats favor continued slaughter and calls on our treasury, regardless of results; they’re gallantly willing to fight to the last dollar and the last Ukrainian.

In the end, Congressional Democrats were their own worst enemy, not least because they showed America exactly what they thought – not only about the President, but about their employers, the American people. Their performance was a slap in the face for everyone who voted for the president, and was a clear indication that the Democrat party as a whole had embraced the lunatic fringe of the Left and everything it represents.  They vociferously oppose things for which a majority of Americans voted, and in so doing risk alienating permanently those groups who used to be fans.  Pennsylvania’s Senator Fetterman got it right:  listen to the people you claim to represent and come up with some ideas of your own.

Because just continuing to say “no” and squealing “bad orange President bad” will get you more of what you have: nothing.  And you will have no one to blame but the man in the mirror.
